Hills East Homeowners Association Quorum Article - September 2000
Mission Hills East Association is a
private gated community comprised of 370 duplex and freestanding homes, all
situated on the Pete Dye Resort Course of the Westin Mission Hills Resort.
Development began in 1987. The homes are on large lots and range in overall size
from 1620 square feet to 2700 square feet. Many of the homes have a second story
bonus room, used as an additional bedroom or office. The current prices range is
from $255,000 to $469,900. The homes enjoy spectacular fairway and mountain
views and many have their own private pools and spas. All homes benefit from the
Association’s four large pools, which are laid out for entertainment complete
with rest rooms. A five member Board of Directors
governs Mission Hills Homeowners Association. Resort Community Management is
responsible for association management. Kay Maloy is the dedicated Manager and
has managed the Association for over four years. Tracy Brindel assists Kay. The
Association is fortunate in having a proactive Board of Directors that has
consistently heeded its duty to preserve and enhance property values, making
Mission Hills East one of the Desert's most attractive communities. With more
than 50% of its owners having their primary residence at Mission Hills, the
Association is able to field active, hands-on committees to support the Board
and Kay. The principal committees are Architectural, Landscape, Maintenance,
Reconstruction and Emergency Preparedness. All maintenance work for the
Association is contracted out. While the complex is a mixture of PUD and
condominium ownership, maintenance is conducted as if all units were condos.
Valley Pools maintains the Association's pools and spas.
Sunshine Landscaping maintains the 75 acres of common area. The
Association's signature “look” is the spectacular seasonal flower display to
be found throughout the complex at entryways, traffic islands, waterscapes,
pools, and surrounding the homes. Last year the Association concluded,
in its favor, settlement of a multi-million dollar construction defect lawsuit
and has recently started the challenging reconstruction process with the
emphasis on improving the roofing systems. Del Mar Pacific is handling the
reconstruction process. To complement this project, every home will receive a
fresh coat of paint, giving the complex a "facelift" to go with the
new Millennium.
