Monterey Country Club

Monterey Country Club is a development of Sunrise Company. Construction commenced in 1978 and lasted 3 years. It is a gate-guarded, golf-oriented community, located on 375 acres so close to the heart of Palm Desert that it is literally just across the street from City Hall. 

The club's amenities include a 27,000 square foot clubhouse and separate tennis and fitness facilities, including 19 tennis courts, 10 of which are lighted. The club is owned and managed by American Golf. The Homeowners Association responsibilities extend to 1206 two and three bedroom condominium units ranging in size from 1260 to 2080 square feet. 

All homes are located on the 27 hole Ted Robinson designed championship golf course, overlooking fairways and lakes. Some homes are tucked away out of range of golf balls. All homes are within easy reach of one of the Association's 37 pools and spas. The Association's office is housed in a portion of the 5,000 square foot administrative building located close to the clubhouse and tennis facilities. The building also accommodates social and meeting facilities for the homeowners. 

The association employs its own in-house management staff. General Manager is Carol Whitlock, PCAM, CCAM. Carol's challenges include the completion of a re-roofing and painting project aimed at updating the ambience of the association's property. President of the Association is Marcia Erickson. 

Marcia is a 9 year resident at Monterey Country Club and an enthusiastic supporter of life in a gated community. "It has been a challenge and a great learning experience to work with the board and staff over the past two years, especially during the early stages of a 4 year, $8 million renovation project. Community life reminds me very much of growing up in a small mid western town. The neighborliness is terrific, something that can't be found in many places as we approach the 21st century." 

Monterey's landscape contractor is Kirkpatrick Landscaping. Pool service is furnished by Ray Stairs. Security is by Burns International. HOA dues are $340 per month. Among other things, this pays for 24 hour gate security at two gates, all landscaping and pool maintenance, insurance, trash pick-up and cable TV. In addition, homeowners pay $64 per month to American Golf as proprietary club membership dues.
